There are so many benefits to having more plant based wholefoods in your diet, it will help both your physical and mental health. Along with making you feel great and… likely living longer (with a higher quality of life) to keep doing the things you love!
In today’s post we are going to go over the importance of ensuring you get enough probiotics into your diet and an easy tool to help you do that is… Our very own BTYR Enzyme Salad! It’s tasty on it’s own, but we thought of two recipes to help change the flavour profile for different occasions.

The two recipes we are going to be doing today are a Sweet & Sour Enzyme Salad and a Picante Enzyme Salad. These two recipes pair great during BBQ season with your veggie burgers or your meatless pulled pork. Both of which we’ve done in other episodes. To see us in action, check out the video below as a good reference.
If you’re asking “What are the benefits of BTYR’s “Enzyme Salad”? See below for the many benefits of eating this stuff everyday:
- Increased antioxidant status
- Protection from asthma
- Anti aging properties
- Anti cancer properties
- Anti constipation effects
- Digestive and colon health
- Brain health promotion
- Skin health promotion
- Positive effects on weight loss, cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar
- Natural enzymes promote the absorption of nutrients to the body (75% of the population in the western world is malnourished and has lost the ability to absorb vital vitamins and nutrients).
Now that you know why this is so amazing for you, let’s get cooking! You’ll need the following ingredients below!

Ingredients
Picante Enzyme Salad
- 2 carrots cubed
- 1 red bell pepper cubed
- 4 spring onions chopped
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup BTYR Enzyme Salad
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- Cayenne pepper to taste
- Salt & pepper to taste
Sweet & Sour Enzyme Salad
- 1 mango cubed
- 1 pear cubed
- 2 tbsp black sesame seeds
- 3/4 cup enzyme salad
- Sriracha sauce to taste
Both of these salads are incredibly easy to prepare and will only take you a few minutes. We are going to start with the picante, take your two carrots and red pepper, cut everything into cubes. Slice your green onions and toss everything into a bowl. Take the remaining ingredients and mix everything together, it’s really as easy as that. Let it sit in the fridge for about 30 minute before serving to let all of the flavors and ingredients work with one another!

The next salad would go great on your veggie burgers or on top of some of our meatless pulled pork! Take the mango and pear, cut into cubes, toss into a bowl. Again, take the remaining ingredients and mix everything together, let sit for 30 minutes, and… You’re done, it’s really that simple!

As you start to work more in your own kitchen preparing meals for yourself, family and friends you will really start to realize you do not need to rely on prepared salad dressings, sauces, salsas, etc. from the store as you will be able to make your own. Which will not include all of the chemicals and preservatives that you might find in products on the shelf!
Thanks again for taking time out of your day and we really hope that you are finding value out of our blog posts and a few laughs from our videos. Stay tuned for another weekly blog post with another great recipe.
